Abstract:

Psychological hesitation is a psychological factor that directly affects performance in an event that requires speed and accuracy, such as the 100 m hurdles. Therefore, it is necessary to integrate psychological preparation into the training unit for female students to improve performance, as psychological hesitation negatively affects performance, especially in games that require quick decision-making and accurate reactions, such as hurdles. The study's goal was to examine the level of psychological hesitation in female students during the 100 m hurdles event, as well as the relationship between psychological hesitation and 100 m hurdles performance. In light of this, the researcher derived various conclusions, such that psychological hesitation was a motivating factor that influenced the results of the performance level of female students in the 100 m hurdles event, and that there is a strong correlation between psychological hesitation and the performance level of the 100 m hurdles for female students. Based on her conclusions, the researcher recommends several recommendations, including: paying attention to psychological preparation as is done in physical preparation, training female students to make quick decisions and overcome fear and hesitation, as well as using techniques such as mental imagery and cognitive behavioral therapy.
