Abstract:

This literature review critically examines the role of health-related fitness programmes in improving the physiological and psychological well-being of teacher trainees. As future educators who must navigate physically and emotionally demanding environments, their health is vital to sustaining professional competence and personal resilience. A comprehensive analysis of existing research reveals that structured physical activity contributes significantly to improvements in cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body composition. Moreover, regular exercise supports emotional well-being, mitigates stress, and promotes mental clarity. The evidence underscores the need for institutional adoption of fitness programmes within teacher education to enhance long-term well-being and professional readiness.
