The effect of a proposed educational approach using the comparative competition method in learning defensive skills for basketball students

Abstract:

The purpose of this paper is to preparing an educational curriculum using the comparative competition method to learn defensive skills for students in basketball, and identifying the effect of the educational curriculum used using the competitive (comparative) method to learn defensive skills for students in basketball. The researcher adopted the experimental method by implementing the experimental design for the control and experimental groups, randomly selected and with the same pre- and post-test. The research community was selected from the fourth-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences - University of Babylon for the academic year 2023-2024 AD, numbering (123) students, and a sample was selected randomly with a number of (30) and divided into two groups, each group (15) students. One of the most important results reached by the researcher is that: The method followed contributed to learning defensive skills for basketball students, and using the competitive (comparative) method led to learning defensive skills for basketball students better and faster. One of the most important recommendations recommended by the researchers is that: The necessity of diversity in using learning methods and at different levels of students' stages.
