Inclusive participation in sports plays a crucial role in promoting physical, social, and psychological well-being among students with disabilities. Adaptive Physical Education (APE) programs serve as an essential medium for ensuring that students with diverse needs have access to meaningful physical activities. This paper explores the concept, importance, and current status of APE programs in India. It highlights the types of disabilities addressed through adaptive strategies, the benefits of participation, and the challenges faced in effective implementation, including limited resources, lack of trained educators, and prevailing social stigma. Through examples of successful initiatives and supportive policies, the paper emphasizes the potential of APE programs to foster inclusivity and empowerment. Recommendations for enhancing training, infrastructure, and community involvement are also discussed, aiming to create more accessible and inclusive sports environments. By raising awareness and promoting actionable solutions, the paper seeks to contribute to the ongoing efforts toward inclusive education and equitable opportunities in Indian sports.
